Ideye replaces Mikel on Nigeria's roster

06/05/2010 - Johannesburg, South Africa (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback put uncapped Brown Ideye on his World Cup team Saturday to replace injured Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Mikel will not take part in this summer's World Cup in South Africa after he was ruled out with a knee injury on Saturday.

Brown, who plays for Sochaux in France, was named to the preliminary 30-player roster but didn't make the final team. He helped Nigeria's U-20 team reach the quarterfinals of the 2007 U-20 World Cup.

Nigeria opens it World Cup campaign on June 12 against Argentina, with games against Greece and South Korea to follow in Group B.
